Worship Buddies at First Church
First Church has a commitment to living out its Vision of Hospitality as a multigenerational community. In our effort to welcome children of all ages into our worship service, First Church is experimenting with a new Worship Buddies initiative. The goal is to connect preschool and young elementary school-aged children with an adult friend who can be a help to parents/caregivers by welcoming short "visits" from their young worship buddy once or twice during a worship service. Adult friends will be prepared with a space in their pew, a small toy or activity, and a warm greeting for their young buddies. Buddy relationships will allow children to move (quietly) within the sanctuary at appropriate moments in the service, hopefully releasing energy and renewing focus on our communal worship.We are looking forward to creating friendships across the generations with the Worship Buddy program.
