THREE-PART BIBLE STUDY ON SPIRITUAL RESILIENCE

Sundays, September 15, 22 and 29, 10:00 a.m., Harter Room

Dan Smith and Pastoral Associates Lexi Boudreaux and Carlyle Stewart will be leading a three- part Bible study on the theme of spiritual resiliency, reflecting on various texts from Genesis.  On the 15th we will begin with a question God calls out to Adam and all us, especially as we begin a new year together:  “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9).   On the 22nd we will immerse ourselves in the story of Hagar and Ishmael in the wilderness (Gen 21:14-20). On the 29th we will read and interpret the story of Jacob wrestling with the Angel (Genesis 32: 22-31).  Together we will explore themes of human vulnerability, our sometimes “exiled” sense of self and others, our capacity with God to find solace and spiritual strength through it all. This time together is meant to carve out space to delve deeper into how these portions of Scripture are speaking to us in their original context and in our own lives.
