Volunteer Cooking a Meal for the First Church Shelter

The First Church Shelter, located in the  basement of our church building, co-funded by First Church in Cambridge and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, has served dinner to fourteen guests every night for the last thirty years. The vast majority of the meals have been created by Shelter Director Jim Stewart, work-study students, or modestly-paid part-time staff. The Shelter Oversight Committee (SOC) is offering a new and exciting opportunity for members of the congregation-- If you would like to support this vital ministry by cooking a meal for the shelter please contact Brian Funck (funckdren@gmail.com). Volunteers will be paired with SOC members and team up to make a meal. We have successfully piloted a number of such two-person efforts this Spring and ask members of the congregation to participate in teaming up with us in making a meal. Sarah Fujiwara and Marc O’Brien, as Co-Chairs, expect you will find supporting the shelter a special and rewarding experience!
