Annual Meeting Recap

February 2, 2022

On Sunday, January 30, the Annual Meeting of First Church in Cambridge took place in its 386th year, and for a second year in a row via Zoom. The meeting was attended by over 80 members, and we had a very full agenda!

  • As per usual, annual reports were accepted; outgoing leaders were appreciated; and treasurer’s motions were made, seconded, and approved!
  • Perry Neubauer and Peter Sykes offered the congregation a fascinating report on our Frobenius Organ, kicking off a 50th anniversary celebration in 2022 as well as a congregation-approved fundraising appeal for its refurbishment.
  • Members unanimously affirmed a First Church Land Acknowledgment.
  • Karlene Griffiths Sekou provided an update about our First Church Reparations Fund and the still-forming collective of local community members that Karlene has been convening, who are authorized to distribute the funds to local non-profit organizations addressing needs of communities most impacted by the legacy of slavery and white supremacy.

You can find the Annual Report, financial reports, and our new slate of officers, leaders, and committee members on our Members & Friends page—just scroll down to the section of quick links labeled “Governance and Leadership.”
