On Sunday, January 30, the Annual Meeting of First Church in Cambridge took place in its 386th year, and for a second year in a row via Zoom. The meeting was attended by over 80 members, and we had a very full agenda!
- As per usual, annual reports were accepted; outgoing leaders were appreciated; and treasurer’s motions were made, seconded, and approved!
- Perry Neubauer and Peter Sykes offered the congregation a fascinating report on our Frobenius Organ, kicking off a 50th anniversary celebration in 2022 as well as a congregation-approved fundraising appeal for its refurbishment.
- Members unanimously affirmed a First Church Land Acknowledgment.
- Karlene Griffiths Sekou provided an update about our First Church Reparations Fund and the still-forming collective of local community members that Karlene has been convening, who are authorized to distribute the funds to local non-profit organizations addressing needs of communities most impacted by the legacy of slavery and white supremacy.
