Harvard and the Legacy of Slavery
May 2, 2022
On Tuesday, April 26, the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study and the Initiative on Harvard and the Legacy of Slavery released a substantial report on Harvard’s history with recommendations for reparative action. Given First Church’s historic connection to Harvard and this legacy, Dan Smith has been a member of the faculty committee guiding this initiative. On May 1, we began to engage in learning and reflection about this work, view a 25-minute film about Harvard’s legacy and hold an after-worship discussion about the committee’s report and recommendations. Stay tuned for more opportunities for shared learning, including an outing to explore Harvard’s virtual walking tour.
