Interview with Racial Trauma Expert Resmaa Menakem on NPR’s Here & Now

April 14, 2021

With tensions rising in Minneapolis and around the nation as the Derek Chauvin trial continues and people react to the devastating killing of Daunte Wright by a police officer, we recommend listening to  Robin Young’s powerful interview with somatic therapist Resmaa Menakem on National Public Radio’s Here & Now, originally broadcast on April 8.

Menakem invites people to notice the ways we all hold trauma in our bodies and to find embodied practices for grounding ourselves when faced with racialized harm or stress.

At the top of the interview, Young mentions First Church and Senior Minister Dan Smith’s Easter Sunday sermon, “An Embodied Resurrection,” which referenced Menakem’s recent work .
