Karlene Griffiths Sekou to Preach on May 16

On Sunday May 16, First Church will welcome Karlene Griffiths Sekou as guest preacher for Morning Worship via livestream at 11:00 a.m. Karlene is an international human rights advocate, public health professional, grassroots organizer, and culture worker. We celebrate that Karlene was recently approved for ordination by an Ecclesiastical Council of the Metropolitan Boston Association, UCC. She is the first person of African descent to be sponsored by First Church in Cambridge for such an honor. Ms. Griffiths Sekou is currently pursuing a PhD in Religion; her research interests intersect ritual practices, performance aesthetics, gender, and political anthropology within social movements and public spaces.
